Krešimir Lesić (LLM),
Partner & Founder
After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb in 2002, Krešimir joined Law office „Vladimir Marić & Davor Drugović“.
Before passing the bar exam in 2005, Krešimir supported senior partners in business organization, legal representation of clients before the courts, drafting legal documents and communication with clients.
After passing the bar exam, besides supporting senior partners in all major legal matters, Krešimir represented clients of the office independently in litigations and mediations before the courts. Also, Krešimir was responsible to provide legal counselling to clients in matters of contracting law, labour law, commercial law, copyright law, enforcement of court judgments and real estate regulations.
In 2008, Krešimir joined Nexus Advisory ltd., where he focused on M&A, corporate law and commercial contract law, assisting with share transfers, business transfers, mergers and restructuring and acted as specialist counsel in numerous transactions.
Besides working as legal counsel, Krešimir continued his education and he received LL.M. in French and European juridical culture in 2004, and LL.M. in French, European and International business law in 2005, both at the University Panthéon-Assas (Paris II).
In 2014, Krešimir was appointed judge of second instance council at the Court of Honour with the Croatian Chamber of Economy and he was appointed arbitrator in proceedings with and without an international element at the Permanent Arbitration Court founded at the Croatian Chamber of Economy in 2015.
Marko Lesić (MBA),
Senior Advisor
is a former Founder and President of the Board of Nexus Private Equity Partners and Head of Treasury of Zagrebacka banka, the largest Croatian bank, a member of the UniCredit Group.
After graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, at University of Zagreb, Croatia, Mr. Lesic joined the Capital Markets of Zagrebacka banka, where he in the period 1999 to 2005 advanced from being a leading specialist for debt and equity capital markets to becoming an advisor to the member of the Board in charge for investment banking and large corporates.
During this period, Mr. Lesic participated in establishing the leading investment banking operation in Croatia and managed benchmark transactions in the local market, a lot of them being inaugural and closed in close cooperation with some of the most respectable international financial institutions such as ABN Amro, Citibank, CSFB, DrKW, Deutsche bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Lazard and Rothschild.
During the last almost 20 years, Mr. Lesić had the opportunity to participate in most benchmark transactions in the Croatian and regional capital markets, from the first Croatian sovereign and corporate bond issues, Croatian and international syndicated loans, privatization advisory and strategic advisory to Croatian blue-chip companies, to structuring and execution of PPPs and MBOs.
In the end of 2005, Mr. Lesic was appointed the Head of Treasury of Zagrebacka banka where he successfully managed a highly complex treasury operations of the largest Croatian bank, closed some of the largest and most demanding transactions in local market and significantly improved its operations before he left the bank in July 2007 and established Nexus Private Equity Partners.
In the priod 2007 to 2017, Mr Lesić led Nexus team to establishing the largest Croatian private equity management company with more than EUR 100 million AUM. In that period, Nexus succesfully realized 10 investments in various sectors, which portfolio comapnies together generated revenue of more than EUR 300 million and emloyed more 2.500 people.
Besides the above, Mr. Lesic held supervisory board positions in various companies, among others in ZB Invest, Zagreb Stock Exchange, Dalekovod d.d., Kozmo d.o.o., Požgaj grupa d.o.o., while he currently acts as a member of Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board of Atlantic Group, one of the largest Croatian listed companies. In 2004 Mr. Lesic completed the full time MBA programme at INSEAD, France, while during his career, Mr. Lesic attended numerous seminars and training programs in Croatia and abroad, organized by some of the most eminent international investment banks such as JP Morgan and CSFB.
Marko Makek (MA),
Senior Advisor
Marko Makek, MA, advisor to the FMG team is a former Member of the Board of Nexus Private Equity Partners, at the time the largest private equity house in Croatia and Head of Capital Markets of Zagrebacka banka.
Mr. Makek graduated Finance at Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb, Croatia and, after receiving government scholarship, continued his Masters education in the UK at the Sussex European Institute, University of Sussex.
After returning to Croatia in 2000, Mr. Makek joined the Croatian Ministry for European Integration where he worked on economic issues as the Head of Analytics Department of the Directorate for Integration Strategy where he managed activities of analytical support to Croatia’s EU integration process on with the focus on the SAA with the EU.
In 2003, Mr. Makek joined the Capital Markets team of Zagrebacka banka, the largest Croatian bank and a member of the UniCredit Group, where he, as the Head of Capital Markets, managed local and international transactions arranged and executed by the bank in the capital markets, including sovereign/corporate debt (bonds and CPs issues) and equity (IPOs and SEOs) transactions, as well as structured finance and syndicated loans and financial advisory., as well as advising clients on optimum funding structures.
In 2008 Mr. Makek participated in founding Nexus Private Equity Partners, as a Member of the Management Board, which grew into the largest Croatian private equity house with 3 PE funds under management. At Nexus he worked on analysing, selecting and executing of investments for PE funds, as well as on post-investment management of portfolio companies in broadest of business issues.
Aside from formal education at the University of Zagreb and University of Sussex, Mr. Makek participated in various education and training programmes and seminars in Croatia and abroad, in both fields of EU integration and investment banking, such as ADEPT Structural Funds Training in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Acquisition Financing, Project Financing, IPO & Privatization and Restructuring Financing courses organized by Bocconi and UniCredit Group in Milano, Italy.
In 2009, Mr. Makek was elected Member of the Management Board of the Croatian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, and he was elected Vice-President of the Investment Funds Management Companies Association at the Croatian Chambers of Commerce during the period in 2013-2018. Mr. Makek has been a member of Supervisory Boards of several reputable Croatian companies.
